Songs In Languages I Don't Speak - Round 14: Niekur

It should be no secret by now that I love Lithuanian, and this song is beautiful both for its language and it's piano.

A Bit About Me

TheWolfenSiren, alternatively referred to online as Lorre, Lore, or Fang, is a vegetarian, bipolar, feminist Goth, pianist, singer, and songwriter with an unhealthy affinity for musicals in languages she doesn't understand. She is the author of the blog The Darker Side Of The Light, which, instead of language, deals with serious social problems, and lighthearted Gothic fun. She also, as you might have guessed from the point of this blog, has an extreme interest in the worlds of language and linguistics.

The reason for being a "Pseudo-Amateur" linguist? She's pretty sure that someone has to take classes in school on a subject before even being considered an "amateur". And unfortunately, in her language/linguistics deprived state, there's nothing available to her as a student. So, she's educated herself through, to put it mildly, a crapload of books and internet resources.

Here's a brief language repertoire, to give you a narrow idea of her language experiences.

Studied Moderately to Intensely(Note: This definitely does NOT mean "fluent in". She is only fluent in English, sadly.):

Latin

Finnish

Hungarian

Studied Lightly:

Lithuanian

Spanish (She didn't study it outside of school, and had no real interest in it, so she considers it "light".)

Estonian

German

Learned a lot about, but didn't try to learn:

Most Uralic languages

About one-third of Indo-European languages.

She apologizes that the non-linguistic posts in this blog will almost always use European-centric languages as a focus or examples. She just has more experience with them, and later in her life she probably will move on to wider lingual horizons.

But for now, she's just a pseudo-amateur linguist.
